WE HAD 56 IN ATTENDANCE FOR THIS MEETING, INCLUDING ASIS MEMBERS FROM THE WEST MICHIGAN CHAPTER, AND OUR REGIONAL VP, ANDRIANA VINCENT. WE ALSO WELCOMED THE BOARD AND MEMBERS OF THE NEWLY-CHARTERED "ASIS MID-MICHIGAN CHAPTER #307". THIS CULMINATED A TREMENDOUS EFFORT THAT WAS SPEARHEADED BY ANDRIANA, OUR OWN ALLEN HONEYCUTT (ASSISTANT REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT), AND TERESA SWARCZINSKI, WHO IS THE CHAIRPERSON FOR THE NEW CHAPTER. CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER FOR ALL THESE FINE FOLKS!

  • PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION:
    • This presentation detailed the FBI’s Victim Services Division’s (VSD) Victim Assistance Program, including the VSD’s assets and the specific duties of Carmen's positioon as an FBI Victim Specialist.  The presentation also outlined the composition and response of our Victim Assistance Rapid Deployment Team, with a detailed focus on the victim assistance response to the Las Vegas Rout 91 Harvest Festival Shooting in October of 2017.  Carmen also provided some invaluable examples of victim needs and victim assistance, gleaned from her experiences during other deployments such at the San Bernardino IRC shooting and the Orlando Pulse Nightclub Shooting.  The victim assistance response teams work with victims, Family Assistance Centers, and Hospitals. The information provided highlighted some things to consider looking ahead to community response and recovery both immediate and long term.
